Reading the Workout

Writing workouts in this manner allows the programmer to specify exercise order, rest intervals, and tempo with a high level of precision.

A workout such as:
A1: Deadlift @ 30X1, 5 sets of 5 reps; 2 min rest
A2: Press @ 20X1, 5 sets of 3 reps; 2 min rest
B1: Kipping Pullups, 4 sets of 20 reps; 90 seconds
B2: Kipping Ring Dips; 4 sets of 20 reps; 90 seconds

Would have you do 5 deadlifts at the written tempo, rest 2 minutes, 3 Presses at the written tempo, rest 2 minutes, 5 times. After finishing the (A) portion in its entirety, you would move to the (B) portion which would have you do a set of 20 kipping pullups followed by a 90 second rest then a set of 20 kipping ring dips followed by a 90 second rest, you would do this 4 times total -- at which point you would be done.
